As of July 1, 2026, new federal student loan borrowers are limited to just two repayment paths: the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) or the Tiered Standard Repayment Plan. For financial aid offices, that means more borrower questions, more exit counseling complexity, and a real need to understand these plans well enough to explain them clearly. This session breaks down what RAP and Tiered Standard actually mean for students, how they compare to the repayment landscape schools are used to, and what financial aid staff should be prepared to communicate during entrance and exit counseling. Attendees leave with borrower-ready talking points and a clear view of where the biggest points of confusion are likely to show up.
